Today is a good day - highs will be in the upper 30's and we'll have PLENTY of sunshine....but, this IS the calm before the storm...
Alright, so by this point I'm sure many of you are hearing about the possibility of another major snowstorm for the mid-Atlantic states coming tomorrow night into Wednesday - yes, that is indeed the case. And this time, the tri-state area gets in on it too! I know that's what was said about the storm over the weekend, but this storm does seem like it will be coming together perfectly for a major snow event in NYC, Long Island and New Jersey. Places like Philly and DC should also see a fair amount of snow out of this one.....again! So for you guys, if you can get out to the stores, get what you need ASAP!
As for us, we're talking about the event beginning tomorrow night and lasting through the day on Wednesday. All of the precipitation will fall as snow and it is VERY likely that we'll see 12" or more on Long Island and in and around the city. I'll have a complete snowfall map a little later on....
What we have this time around is two areas of low pressure that will be phasing into one storm and setting up heavy snow bands over the tri-state area. It'll also become windy as the storm systems start to move towards us. One is coming more from the west, while the other is a coastal low that will be moving north and east. Like I said...time frams for this one is Tuesday Night into Wednesday and will be making a dangerous situation for Wednesday's commute - near impossible travel conditions expected with near blizzard to potentially blizzard conditions as the wind gusts to around 30MPH!!
The National Weather Service should issue watches and warnings for our area soon. Most of NJ is already under a Winter Storm Watch!
So, it's time to hunker down with this one. Get ready all you snow lovers - this is your storm!!
Snowfall map to come shortly....
Have a magnificent Monday!
