Good evening! Time to Hammer Out the Weather!
Snow is approaching the tri-state area from the West right now and is expected to impact our weather beginning with some flurries/light snow between 9pm and midnight tonight.
This will be a fast moving system, but it will still drop a fresh several inches of snow across New Jersey, New York City and Long Island before ending as some flurries late tomorrow morning. We do have to watch the radar closely, as some parts of Long Island may have to deal with some mixing issues for a period. Still should be primarily snow, but any mixing would keep totals on the low end. Will update you throughout the night on this!
Tomorrow's morning commute is going to be a difficult one and I would expect some school delays, probably not too many school closings with this one. However, the roads will be white and icy tomorrow morning, so you'll need to leave plenty of extra time and drive carefully!

Now for your complete forecast.
Tonight's temperatures will be in the upper teens to around 20 degrees with that snow starting. The snow will come down hard overnight.
As you wake up tomorrow morning, temperatures will be in the low 20's and it will still be snowing. Snow ends by around midday. Temperatures tomorrow will stay in the upper 20's!
We'll start to clear out tomorrow afternoon and then temperatures will plummet into the teens for tomorrow night. It will be a good night for some decent radiational cooling, which helps push those temperatures down.
Unfortunately, it will be even colder for this weekend with highs in the low to mid 20's! Talk about frigid!! Overnight temperatures this weekend will fall into the single digits in spots.
Looks like our next chance for winter weather will be Tuesday to Wednesday of next week. Too early to tell what's going to happen with this storm, but it's yet another one to keep an eye on!
