Good evening! Time to Hammer Out the Weather!
HEADLINES:- Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 6am tomorrow morning
- Snow emergencies being declared = keep your cars off the roads!
- Power outages possible overnight as wind gusts reach 40mph
- Heavy snowfall rates of 2"-3" per hour
- SCHOOLS: Widespread delays likely, 20% chance of closings as storm exits early
**Predicted Storm Totals (Includes This Morning's Snow)** 
This EveningSleet changes to snow and it will once again begin to overspread the tri-state area from SW to NE. Snow gets heavy between 8pm and 9pm in New York City and about the same time for Long Island, maybe a little later. Temperatures will be in the upper 20's to low 30's. You'll start to notice an increase in the wind as well.
OvernightExpect heavy snow overnight tonight with rates of up to 2"-3" per hour at times and near-blizzard like conditions with wind gusts to around 40mph!
Thundersnow is also possible. This means during any heavy snow bands you may hear thunder or see lightning.
Power outages are possible overnight. There's already some snow on the trees and power lines and round two of this storm tonight will only make matters much worse.
Definitely do not go out if you don't have to. This will be an extremely dangerous travel time!
Tomorrow MorningIf you have to head off to catch a train or just commute early tomorrow morning, you will want to leave yourself an hour or two of extra time. We will still have some snow around, but it will be tapering off to light snow and flurries by about 7 or 8 AM.
I expect the roads to still be dangerous. So please drive safely and slowly!
Tomorrow Afternoon-Night
We'll start to clear out tomorrow afternoon. It'll be mostly cloudy with temperatures in the low to mid 30's. So, there will be some melting tomorrow of any snow that falls overnight tonight, just enough to create concerns for black ice after any melted snow refreezes tomorrow night.
Friday
We'll have partly sunny skies with temperatures right around the freezing mark. Again, black ice will be a concern Friday night as well with overnight lows in the teens!
WeekendA weak area of low pressure moves across the tri-state area during the day on Saturday, providing us with snow showers and the shot at an additional couple of inches of snow this weekend. More on that tomorrow.
