Today's Tri-State Area Update: Mild Monday, Tuesday Winter Disturbance

Good morning! Let's Hammer Out The Weather!
Summary:Another mild winter day today leads to our next shot at winter precipitation tomorrow. Then, another cold blast for the middle to end of this week. An end-of-the-week storm is not out of the realm of possibility, but is looking less likely.
This Morning:We'll wake up to partly sunny skies and temperatures in the upper 20's to low 30's. Winds will be calm to light throughout the morning hours.
This Afternoon:Expect mostly cloudy to cloudy sky conditions to continue. For a second day in a row, we'll see temperatures topping out in the low 40's. However, don't get too used to those temperatures!!
Then, later this afternoon I'll be watching our next storm system set to bring us some winter weather. I'm confident we'll stay dry this afternoon and just be dealing with cloudy skies.
Evening/Tonight:Temperatures will start dropping into the mid and eventually lower 30's. Then I think some light snow starts overnight. I'll be watching the radar to better pinpoint the start of any precipitation for you. I'm thinking it starts later rather than earlier. Lows tonight will be in the upper 20's.
The potential problem with this system is how long the surface stays warm. Right now the lower levels of the atmosphere are warm from our milder weather over the past couple of days. Temperatures higher up in the atmosphere support all snow, but if it takes awhile for the surface temperatures to cool, we will start off as some rain instead of snow and transition to a period of freezing rain tomorrow morning. But, let's worry about that this evening.
Tomorrow:Expect light snow or freezing rain during the morning hours. I'll be watching this closely and fine tuning throughout the day for you. Be sure to check my Facebook and Twitter pages for continuous updates!
Tomorrow Night:Skies will clear, but here comes another cold blast! Lows will get as low as the upper single digits in spots. Generally, expect temperatures in the teens tomorrow night. It gets windy as well as the storm pulls away from the tri-state area. Wind gusts could get as high as 30mph!
Mid-End of Week:We stay cold and mainly clear for Wednesday. The possibility for a Thursday storm is decreasing, but it's still not out of the cards just yet, so I'll continue to watch that closely for any changes. Looks like we'll be back to the upper 30s, near 40 degrees by next weekend!
